We want to take a moment and thank everyone for all of the feedback that we have received these past few months. It has been an invaluable tool to help us gauge where we are and where we want to go. The feedback from our recent road map has indicated that our current direction is underwhelming and forced us to sit back and take a hard look at everything… and you were right.
Last night we held a long meeting among the core of the team at Big Picture Games to discuss where we want to take the game and what our goals need to be. During this discussion we came to the conclusion that much of what we have been trying desperately to hold onto were the roots of what Darkfall had become. This was a game that involved a heavy time sink, required perseverance and tolerating insane amounts of tedium. What we attempted to do was walk a line between casual and hardcore play times, and we now know this was a mistake.
Our design focus moving forward is going to be removing tedium, grinds and power gaps to make Darkfall: Rise of Agon truly accessible to anyone. Starting this coming weekend we will begin opening a series of design discussions that will allow you, the players, the ability to voice your opinions and help shape Rise of Agon into something truly amazing.
Stay tuned and make sure to join us in the discussion.
